[PMKRI] Online seminar “Young Entrepreneurs Entering the Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges”

imcsap.orgTo support National Entrepreneurship Development, the Central Board of the Republic of Indonesia Catholic Student Association (PP PMKRI) for the 2022-2024 period through the Entrepreneurship Development Division, held an online seminar with the theme “Young Entrepreneurs Entering the Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges.” on Wednesday (22/3/23 ).

The seminar was moderated by the head of the PP PMKRI Entrepreneurship Development Divison, Mr. Herianto Ebong, with Mr. Rizal Edwin from Digital Transformation, Creativity and Human Resources of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Muh. Aaron Anar Sampetoding the Head of Investment and Relations International Executive Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP-HIPMI), as resource persons.

In her opening remarks, the Chairperson of the PP-PMKRI, Tri Natalia Urada, said, “Digital Economy is part of the solution for economic recovery due to the pandemic situation we are facing; therefore, need the proper planning and analysis. The digital economy has become part of post-pandemic life and has provided great benefits for an inclusive economic recovery.”

Mr. Rizal Edwin explained that economic growth in Indonesia in 2022 will grow solidly, supported by export performance. Facing the COVID-19 pandemic, technology adoption has occurred, which has affected shifts in behavior and global economic activity to increase productivity and value. “Indonesia’s digital economy is potential by looking at 22% YoY growth in 2022, and predicted to be able to reach a GMV of $ 130 billion in 2050, mainly driven by the E-Commerce sector,” explained Rizal.

In his presentation, Mr. Muh. Aaron Annar Sampetoding said that holistically, Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem consists of several parts, such as human resources, education, mentoring, access to funding, and culture. Unfortunately, structural problems or mindsets in Indonesia become obstacles to entrepreneurial growth because of family encouragement to be more towards finding work rather than opening jobs. “From these conditions, we hope that more young people will become entrepreneurs as part of efforts to accelerate national economic development. With the current role of technology, it will certainly provide convenience and more efficiency for business actors,” concluded Mr. Muh. Aaron Annar Sampetoding.*
