As one of the most peaceful countries, New Zealand tragically experienced a terrorist attack on 15th March 2019 where 49 people were massacred in 2 mosques in Christchurch. A lone terrorist had attacked the worshippers at the mosques.
This attack stemmed from the recent climate of hate around the world. According to the media reports, the attacker was inspired by similar racist attackers around the world. His inspiration came from hate. Hate that has been propagated by various irresponsible individuals and groups via mass media for selfish and destructive agendas. Their sinister agendas must be exposed and nipped in the bud before it spreads like cancer globally.
IMCS stands in support with the victims’ families and the Muslim Community in New Zealand. We stand against any idea of hurting another human being for her/his skin colour, faith, beliefs, religion, orientation, gender, and ideology. We condemn this cowardly attack on innocent people, most of whom were forced to run away from their countries to escape the same violence and in search of a better life.
We call upon the religious institutions, civil society, governments and fellow human beings around the world to join us in condemning this brutal massacre and we demand to take appropriate measures to engage in education of masses against such fanaticism. We believe we can put an end to blind hate and terrorism. As a global youth movement, we call upon all youth to spread love and acceptance in the pursuit of truth, justice and peace via forming Justice and Truth themed movements or via other creative ways.
Let us choose love to rebuild peace, harmony and solidarity.
