The Continued Learning and Action Program (CLAP) Workshop on Indigenous Peoples and the World took place on July 19, 20, 26, and 27, 2024, bringing together 40 passionate participants. This workshop was organized in collaboration with the International Youth Training Center (IYTC), MOPOT (Defender of Ancestral Lands Sabah), and the Don Bosco Technical School-Kep in Cambodia. The primary goal was to train young leaders on the critical issues facing Indigenous communities and to emphasize the importance of this knowledge as a tool for social justice and advocacy in today’s world.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a series of focused sessions. In the first session, they gained a clear understanding of the concept and perceptions surrounding Indigenous communities, helping to demystify and reframe common misconceptions. The second session delved into the deep relationship between Indigenous peoples, Mother Earth, and culture, offering participants a richer appreciation of the interconnectedness of these elements. The third session provided a comprehensive overview of the rights and struggles of Indigenous communities, highlighting the challenges they face. Finally, the workshop concluded with an inspiring session aimed at motivating and engaging student leaders to take actionable steps toward advocating for Indigenous people’s rights at local, national, and international levels.

The CLAP Workshop was a significant initiative in empowering young leaders to become advocates for Indigenous rights, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to contribute meaningfully to social justice efforts.
