imcsap.org – Students have served as catalysts for social and political change by forging new thoughts and ideologies. In this context, falls on student movements to act as catalysts for student activism and guide them to transform the activism into movements.
In February, IMCS AP conducted a 4-days workshop on Student Activism with the purpose to increase awareness of student leaders in advocating and doing activism. The facilitator of the workshop was Mr. Ruki Fernando (a human rights activist and trainer). The workshop was attended by 25 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Kenya, Burundi, Hong Kong, and Myanmar. The participants expressed their feelings and thoughts and experiences of doing activism and got feedback and new insights from the facilitator and others during the sessions.
The workshop was wrapped up with the statement of Ralph Nader that, “A society that has more justice is a society that needs less charity”.
