Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka University Catholic Students’ Movement (SLUCSM) for the term 2019/20 was held on the 24th of August 2019 at the Social Communication Centre, Colombo 8.
Mr. Asanka Milroy called the meeting to order at 11.00 a.m. and the minutes of the previous AGM were read by the outgoing Secretary; Mr. Ruklan Kularatne. This was followed by the reading of the Annual Report for the term 2018/19 which described the activities done by the previous committee. The treasurer’s report for the term 2018/19 was read out by Mr. Nalin Perera.
Rev. Fr. Claude Perera; National Coordinator of the SLUCSM addressed those who were present. Mr. Asanka Milroy; the outgoing President delivered his speech thanking those who made this endeavour possible.
Motions were passed to the constitution of the SLUCSM by the outgoing secretary; Mr. Ruklan Kularatne. The National Movement of Sri Lanka was earlier named as the Federation of Catholic Students in Sri Lankan State Universities (FECSSLSU). A motion was passed to the constitution to change the name to SLUCSM.
This was followed by the nomination and election of the new committee for the term 2019/20.
The Executive Committee for the term 2019/2020 was appointed as follows:
Apart from the executive committee members, sixteen committee members were elected to the National Committee representing the fifteen Catholic Students’ Movements and one Regional Movement.
The newly appointed committee took solemn oaths to fulfil their duties to the best of their capacity to uplift the movement. Afterwards, the newly appointed committee was blessed by the chaplains.
Speeches were delivered by both the incoming President and Secretary; Mr. Ruklan Kularatne and Miss. Dinithi Kurukulasuriya.
The AGM concluded at 12.30 p.m. with the handing over of tokens of appreciation to all the chaplains present and to members of the outgoing committee.
