Assisi Catholic Peace Forum 9–11 June 2025 Brings Global Catholic Leaders Together for Peace Dialogue

This June, the tranquil city of Assisi—the home of St. Francis—became a living witness to the Catholic Church’s call for just peace, ecological conversion, and disarmament. The Assisi Catholic Peace Forum (CPF) convened 30 participants from across the globe: 15 in-person delegates gathered at Casa di Ospitalità Maria Immacolata, and 15 others joined online, representing Catholic youth, student, and peace movements.

Co-organized by Pax Romana IMCS/ICMICA, Pax Christi International, IYTC, and IYCS, the Forum served as a space of reflection, advocacy, and community action under the Jubilee Year 2025 theme: “Pilgrims of Hope.”

Forum Focus Areas

Across three days of sessions, panels, and pilgrimages, the Forum engaged participants in timely themes:

  • Geopolitical Challenges and the Role of the Catholic Church
  • Public Diplomacy and Youth-Led Advocacy for Peace
  • Artificial Intelligence and Ethical Futures

Expert speakers from Pax Christi, the International Peace Bureau, and the Idente Missionaries enriched the sessions, alongside inspiring reflections from young leaders in IMCS, IYCS, and IYTC.

Launch of the Assisi Appeal for Peace

The Forum culminated in the adoption of the Assisi Appeal for Peace, a powerful declaration rooted in Gospel nonviolence and Catholic Social Teaching. Key calls to action included:

  • Support for nuclear disarmament and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW)
  • Youth-led synodal engagement and interfaith cooperation
  • Ethical governance of Artificial Intelligence
  • Advocacy aligned with Laudato Si’, Fratelli Tutti, and the UN’s SDGs

A Global Mosaic of Participants

In-person participants hailed from Indonesia, Korea, Italy, Belgium, Ethiopia, Portugal, and beyond. Online participants joined from Austria, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines—reflecting the Forum’s inclusive and international spirit.

Continuing the Journey: From Assisi to Seoul
