Add Your Heading Celebrating 100 Years of Youth-Led Transformation: IMCS Joins AICUF Centennial Convention in IndiaHere

From May 16–18, 2025, the All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) hosted its Centennial Closing Ceremony and 6th National Convention at Loyola College, Chennai. The event brought together over 300 student leaders, chaplains, and faith-based activists from across India to commemorate a century of Catholic student movement in the country.

IMCS–Pax Romana Asia Pacific was honored to be part of this historic celebration, represented by Regional Coordinator Suman Ghale. The three-day gathering combined powerful testimonies, spiritual reflections, cultural showcases, and strategic discussions—anchored in the lived experiences of youth working for justice, peace, and human dignity.

A highlight of the convention was the official adoption of constitutional amendments, signaling a renewed vision shaped by the voices of young people from diverse socio-political, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Through thematic sessions and regional sharing, participants highlighted pressing issues such as Indigenous rights, Dalit empowerment, ecological justice, and student participation in nation-building.

As the event concluded, participants left energized by the legacy of AICUF and committed to advancing a future rooted in solidarity, faith, and action.

“I am deeply grateful to the AICUF National Secretariat for the invitation to represent IMCS–Pax Romana at this remarkable occasion. This convention was not just a moment of celebration—it was a turning point for the movement.

What stood out most was the sincerity and courage of the young people who spoke—students from marginalized communities, Indigenous youth, Dalits—sharing powerful stories from Jharkhand, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and beyond.

Their voices revealed the ongoing realities of discrimination, land struggles, and social exclusion. But more importantly, they reflected hope—hope that these struggles will inspire solidarity and systemic change. The strength of a movement lies not only in its legacy but in its ability to evolve with the times.

This gathering reminded me that youth are not just the future—they are the now. They are shaping a more compassionate, just, and inclusive society rooted in faith and moral courage.”
