Bertha Samponu had the honor of representing Pax Romana – International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS) Asia Pacific International Youth Training Centre (IYTC) at the 4th International Youth Forum on Human Rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event took place on October 22-23, 2024, at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok.
The forum was an invaluable opportunity to connect with fellow youth leaders from around the world. Through dynamic exchanges and collaborative discussions, we shared inspiring stories and gained profound insights into our collective journeys advocating for human rights. The diversity of experiences and perspectives highlighted the universal challenges and aspirations we face as young leaders committed to social change.
One of the highlights of the forum was the series of workshops and panel discussions focused on practical strategies for advancing human rights and achieving the SDGs. These sessions provided a platform for us to delve into specific issues such as gender equality, climate action, and social inclusion. We explored innovative solutions and best practices, learning from the successes and challenges encountered by our peers in different regions.
The forum concluded with a powerful discussion on our collective commitment to social justice and the Sustainable Development Goals. This closing session was not just a summary of the event but a reaffirmation of our dedication to creating a more equitable and sustainable world. We discussed actionable steps and collaborative initiatives that we could implement within our own communities and organizations.
This experience has left me energized and motivated to make a meaningful impact. The connections made, the knowledge gained, and the inspiration drawn from fellow youth leaders have equipped me with a renewed sense of purpose. As we move forward, I am confident that our collective efforts will continue to drive positive change and bring us closer to achieving our shared goals.
