Max Wayong joined with the Union of Catholic University Students of the Republic of Indonesia (PMKRI) in 1960s and served as the national president of the Union from 1969 to 1971. As a dedicated Catholic Student activist , he continued his service in the International Movement of Catholic Students Pax Romana as the Coordinator of the Asia Pacific region from 1971 to 1973 and as the International Secretary General from 1973 to 1976.
As a Catholic activist, he highly believed in our commitment to uphold peace and justice. He was openly vocal against the Indonesian dictatorial regime of President Suharto and publicly campaigned against the fraudulent elections of the regime. His choice to stand against the dictatorship and injustice made him to live a life of poverty. Student movement will always remember your principled life of example..
Farewell dear Max! Rest in Power…
