The Catholic Social Forum (CSF) is a collaborative initiative and open platform led by socially engaged Catholics encompassing students, youths, lay movements, religious and clergy dedicated to socio-pastoral missions. Its core mission is to translate the principles of Catholic social teachings into tangible and meaningful reality. The Catholic Social Forum (CSF) is a collaborative initiative involving Catholic youths, social movements, organizations, groups, and individuals dedicated to promoting social justice, peace, and ecological sustainability.
Facilitated by the International Youth Training Center (IYTC), the CSF aims to foster dialogues and communication among Catholic youths and like-minded organizations.
The proposed Catholic Social Forum (CSF), co-organized by the International Youth Training Center (IYTC) and other interested organizations such as IMCS, is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, at St Xavier College, Kathmandu on 17 February 2024, coinciding with the World Social Forum (WSF) in Kathmandu from 15 to 19 February 2024.
The agenda of the CSF will focus on exploring the role of Catholic Social Teachings (CST) in socio-ecological transformation, with a particular emphasis on engaging youths and students. Aligned with the WSF’s theme, “Another World Is Possible,” participants will discuss potential alternative paradigms and projects aligned with CST principles, including Laudato Si (2025), Laudate Deum (2023), and Fratelli Tutti (2020).
Participants will also deliberate on how to contribute to the ongoing Synod on Synodality (2021-2024) as a Catholic social action group and civil society organization. The CSF welcomes participation from all individuals, particularly Christians involved in social activities and civil society, as well as institutions and lay movements within the Catholic Church. The outcomes of the CSF-Kathmandu will be shared as input for the WSF process and utilized as a future agenda for programs and projects of the IYTC.
